Report: Leixlip and Clane started out their spring league campaign at a sunny Radley Park, Leixlip. A fine game of football was played in dry but windy conditions. The first quarter proved to be very close with Clane leading 2 scores to one at the break. Conor Murnaghan scored a great goal for Leixlip after some fine work from James Bowden and Odhran Henson. The second quarter proved to be equally as close with the sides going into the half time break at 4 scores each. Leixlips Conor Higgins , Rory Flynn and Ben Travers managed to get on the scoreboard in this period while great work from JJ Flannery in goals and Karl Burke in defence helped to limit the Clane forwards scoring. The game was now set for a gripping second half which we have come to excpect from these teams. Clane turned on the style after the break hitting four scores to Leixlips one. Altough Leixlip where under pressure in this period Louis Farrell and Sean Englishby showed great heart and kept their team going forward. The Clane defence put on a great display of tackling and held the hard working Leixlip forwards to one score. The final quarter saw Leixlip chasing the game. Darragh Mc Carthy and Dara Mooney were at this stage putting in plenty of hard work around midfield which saw Leixlip edge closer to Clane, with Conor Higgins and Ben Travers getting the Leixlip sores. The Clane team again showed a high level of skill all over the pitch and they left Radley Park with a fully deserved win.
